The Home Office's AWS contracts and spending

The Home Office's payments to Amazon Web Services nearly tripled from 2020 to 2023, to about £90m a year. A planned £881.6m renewal would more than double that again.

  • The renewal is its £881.6m estimate spread over four years; over two it would be £441m a year.
  • 2020 includes £40m paid up front, which covered bills into 2021. December 2024 alone was £24.4m, which is why 2025 looks lower.
