What the contract covers

Multi-deliverable works and services package

Provision of veterinary consultancy, epidemiological research, and agricultural training services to support bovine tuberculosis risk management and disease control programmes.

  • Provide accessible bTB training for vets, Approved Tuberculin Testers (ATT) and farmers, with reference to different TB regions of Wales
  • Develop a framework for a successor to Cymorth TB and identify and engage with groups including Approved Tuberculin Testers and young farmers
  • Conduct enhanced Whole Genome Sequencing investigations supporting local epidemiological investigations into herd breakdowns and local risk
  • Develop closer working between APHA and Aberystwyth University bovine TB epidemiology expertise
  • Undertake badger population estimations and local population structure investigations, including research into local badger population genetics, to support bTB risk management and Wales Badger Found Dead surveillance disease prevalence estimations
  • Communicate bovine TB risks from cattle movements in support of the keep-it-out strategy by illustrating movement numbers, frequency and intensity
