Independent lot

Provision of specialist radiation protection, dosimetry, and medical physics advisory services for NHS hospital imaging and nuclear medicine departments.

Provide suitably qualified Medical Physics Experts, Radiation Protection Advisors and Radioactive Waste Advisors for departments where ionising radiation is undertaken
Advise on compliance with relevant statutory provisions, codes of practice and radiation-safety requirements
Periodically visit hospital departments using ionising radiation to review protection measures
Monitor and, where necessary, survey working environments, clothing and body parts of staff working with radionuclides
Provide advice on non-ionising radiation covering laser, radio-frequency magnetic resonance imaging, ultraviolet radiation and ultrasound
Calibrate the output of PUVA therapy machines at least annually when requested
Provide suitably qualified Laser Protection Advisers for the safe use of class 3B or 4 medical lasers
Provide suitably qualified Medical Physics Experts, Radiation Protection Advisors and Radioactive Waste Advisors for departments where nuclear medicine services are undertaken
Provide nuclear-medicine radiation-safety compliance advice, departmental reviews, monitoring and surveys
Provide an HSE-approved dosimetry service for individual and body-extremity monitoring
